Higgs bundles and semi-flat metrics

A recent paper of Yau, Zaslow and Loftin discussed the
degeneration of special Lagrangian tori fibrations in semi-flat
Calabi-Yau manifolds in terms of affine spheres and the Tzitzeica
equation. I shall view this in the language of Higgs bundles and
projective structures on surfaces and then move on to the work of my
student David Baraglia on the analogous issue for G2 manifolds with
coassociative torus fibrations.
