On the spectrum of Martin-Morales-Nadirashvili minimal surfaces

We show that the spectrum of the Laplacian of a complete submanifold M properly immersed in a ball of a Riemannian manifold N is discrete, provided the mean curvature vector is sufficiently small. In particular, complete Martin-Morales-Nadirashvili minimal surfaces properly immersed in balls of have discrete spectrum.
